Since 1st May 2001 it has been a criminal offence for an immigration advisor to provide advice or services in the United Kingdom unless their organisation:-

1. Is registered with the Office of the Immigration Services
Commissioner (OISC);
2. Has been granted a certificate of exemption by the OISC;
3. Unless the advisor is a solicitor, barrister or legal executive;
or
The organisation is committed to obtaining a Community Legal Services Quality Mark.
